This biennial features 51 Maine artists who are asked to interpret Portland Maine in any way we choose. My painting, Rhythm and Blues, celebrates our working waterfront and beautiful Casco Bay. Urban Salvage installed!
It was great to see my Urban Salvage monotype now hanging in one of the offices at Proskauer in Boston. This office overlooks the old Fort Point Channel Bridge in Boston Harbor (see below) which is kind of perfect!
Working Waterfront commission for Verrill Dana law firm
The Verrill Dana law firm based here in Portland commissioned me to create two 36 x 48 inch paintings for their beautiful, newly renovated offices. They were delivered this month and are hanging in the main 9th floor conference room in their offices at 1 Portland Square.
The paintings are loosely based on the Portland waterfront, with a couple of recognizable landmarks such as the Eimskip crane which dominates the western waterfront, and the Ocean Gateway Terminal building to the east.
It was great to work in a larger scale and I look forward to doing more!
New gallery in Palm Springs,CA
I’m excited to be showing at this new gallery in California. Gallery owner Michael Barba purchased one of my monoprints at the Meca art sale last spring and got in touch afterwards about showing my work. He stopped by my studio this fall and selected these 2 for the opening exhibit, “The Depth of Perception”. Fun to have my work traveling all the way to Australia!
“Down East” exhibition at the Saco Museum Sept 9 – Oct 28, 2017
I have 2 pieces in the Monotype Guild of New England’s “Down East” exhibition at the Saco Museum. Catherine Kernan and her daughter Josephine Graf juried the exhibit and my piece “Construction Zone” won first place! The show is up through October 28th.

Boston Printmakers 70th anniversary exhibition
My monoprint, Urban Salvage, is on exhibit at the Cotuit Center for the Arts on Cape Cod as part of the exhibition, Marking Time, Boston Printmakers 70th anniversary show. Since they hung it next to the bar (and by the hallway that leads to the restrooms) everyone is sure to get a good look at it!
Here’s a link to all the works in the exhibit which runs through September 16th.

Stephen Pace House residency week
Spent a terrific week in July at Meca’s Stephen Pace House residency in Stonington with my critique group. We meet monthly to look at and talk about each other’s work. This year we decided to apply for the residency… the big challenge – finding a week in the summer where we were all available! But we mostly pulled it off, with 7 of the 8 of us attending.
